Nathan B., a Swedish national, travelled to Syria in October 2012. During his time in Syria, he was photographed and filmed next to corpses, exhibiting the victory sign and making insulting and derogatory comments towards the deceased victims. He was also photographed with three victims, holding and pointing guns at them. On 29 August 2022, he was indicted in relation to the above conduct and on 4 January 2023 he was convicted of crimes against humanity of degrading and humiliating treatment. Nathan B. was sentenced to 4 months in prison, as the court took into account that a long time had passed since the commission of the crimes.
