Case: Asia R. A. -

Asia R. A., an Iraqi national, has allegedly been a member of ISIS between October 2015 and December 2017. According to prosecutors she requested her husband Twana H. S. To purchase a five-year-old Yazidi girls as a slave on a market in Mosul. In early October 2017, the couple allegedly purchased another, then twelve-year-old, Yazidi girl. Asia R. A.’s husband Twana H. S. allegedly raped both girls repeatedly. According to prosecutors, Asia R. A. prepared a room for her husband to rape the girls and put on make-up on one of the girls. Asia R. A. is further accused of having economically exploited both girls by consistently coercing them into household work and childcare. According to prosecutors, both girls were prohibited from practising their own religion. Instead, they had to follow the couple’s instructions regarding Islamic prayers. The couple is further said to have repeatedly beaten both girls, at times using hard objects. Asia R. A. allegedly burnt the hand of the younger girl by pouring boiling water on the hand. Prior to the couple's departure from Syria in November 2017, they allegedly handed over the girls to other members of ISIS. Asia R. A. and her husband Twana H. S. were arrested in Germany in April 2024 and placed in pre-trial detention. After the indictment was filed in December 2024, the trial proceedings at the Higher Regional Court Munich commenced on 19 May 2025.
