Akram A., a Syrian national, was accused to have been the commander of an ISIS checkpoint in Syria. He was further accused of stopping a Syrian woman who was attempting to escape ISIS with her children in 2016, and allegedly led her to a house under the pretext of getting her an exit permit and raped her. Akram A. was arrested on 7 February 2017 in Germany. However, after further investigation and new findings questioning the validity of the original charges, the arrest warrant was lifted, Akram A. was released in June 2017, and the case was terminated.
